Ideas in Practice

Tools, frameworks, resources, and learning experiences built to help ideas become practice.

I spend a lot of time thinking about what happens between understanding an idea and actually being able to do something with it.

This is a collection of things I’ve created, designed, or helped build in that space: frameworks, resources, curricula, learning experiences, tools, and projects intended to make participation a little more possible.

Some are polished resources. Some are experiments. Some grew inside institutions, others through The Open Practice Academy, and some simply began with a problem I couldn’t stop thinking about. Together, they represent an ongoing attempt to build around the question:

What would someone need in order to actually enter this?

A Few Things I’ve Built

Open Education in Practice

Open Education in Practice is an openly licensed book and learning resource developed from my capstone work in open education.

It brings together practical guidance, reflection, and tools for educators who want to understand open education and begin applying it in thoughtful, sustainable ways.

Original Creations

A collection of things I’ve made across mediums, including visual art, photography, videos, cakes, crafts, design projects, and creative experiments.

Not everything here is for sale. Some things are simply here because they mattered to make.

Resources for Practice

I create practical resources for people who want to move from understanding an idea to actually doing something with it. Some are free and openly available; others are more substantial learning experiences available for purchase.

You can find these resources through The Open Practice Academy (TOPA) and my Maven profile, where I share courses, lessons, tools, guides, and other ways to explore the ideas that shape my work.

Shop

Browse books, apparel, art, prints, digital downloads, and other things I’ve created.

The shop will grow over time as new ideas and projects take shape.

Making as Practice

Not everything I create is connected to my professional work, but all of it is connected to how I move through the world.

Making gives me room to follow an idea without knowing exactly where it will lead. It can be joyful, restorative, strange, practical, beautiful, or simply necessary.

This is where those things live.
